Mission & History

Mission

Angel Wings Outreach Center provides a place of safety to victims of domestic/ family violence abuse. Our program’s services for victims will seek to connect the victim with the resources they will need while increasing their personal safety, independence, and self-esteem.

Vision

Angel Wings Outreach Center is founded on the belief that every person has the right to be safe, empowered, and free from the fear of violence. Our vision is to seek to eliminate domestic and family violence abuse.

History

Angel Wings has been providing temporary emergency shelter for over twenty-three years to individuals who are left homeless after leaving their abuser. In 1994 the then sheriff of Simpson County, Sheriff Lloyd Jones, saw the need for helping victims of domestic violence crimes in rural underserved areas. He made contact with Ms. Alleene Robinson and other community leaders in the county to open a place of safety for victims of domestic violence crimes.

Today, the AWORC provides services for hundreds of victims spread across eight counties in the state of Mississippi. Angel Wings is a certified domestic violence shelter in MS Highway Patrol District 1.

The Angel Wings Outreach Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency governed by a volunteer board that ensures all agency rules, regulations, and bylaws are consistent with our agency’s mission statement. Grants and local contributions provide the funding for the Angel Wings Outreach Center.
